MHS SEPA is a member of Trinity Health, a large national Catholic Healthcare System. MHS has three hospitals serving a variety of communities in the Delaware Valley, as well as a large home care division, four PACE centers, a robust physician network, as well as Mercy ACO. It is also a joint owner of Gateway Health Plan.
Susan is the former President and CEO of The Christ Hospital and Health Network, which includes a 555-bed independent teaching hospital consistently ranked as one of the Best Hospitals by US News & World Report –– and Cincinnati’s Most Preferred Hospital, as measured by the National Research Corporation. The network also has an integrated network of physician practices and ambulatory centers.
Prior to moving to Cincinnati, Susan was CEO of Jeanes Hospital/Temple University Health System in Philadelphia and, earlier, President of St. Joseph’s Hospital in Lancaster, Pa. Altogether, she has more than 30 years of experience in the health care field, starting her career as a microbiologist.
Susan has served on a number of boards, including the Ohio Hospital Association Board, American Heart Association Great Rivers Affiliate, United Way Board, and Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland - Cincinnati Division. She is currently a member of the Gateway Health Plan Board, the American Hospital Association Region 2 Policy Board, the HSX Board, the LaSalle College of Nursing and Health Sciences Advisory Board, and the 340 B Health Executive Council. She is the national chair of the Volunteer Oversight Group of the American Heart Association.
Susan has been recognized by Modern Healthcare as one of the Top 25 Women in healthcare, as well as a finalist with Ernst & Young as Entrepreneur of the Year, the Cincinnati Chamber of Commerce Corporate Woman of the year, and the Hospital Association of PA Grassroots champion of the year.
She has a BS from Pennsylvania State University, MS from Thomas Jefferson University, and MBA from LaSalle University.
